Process Mining

Open the map

Upload the pizza CSV, map three columns, click Analyze, then check Log overview against this file.

In a signed-in workspace, Start Process Mining opens a Draft. There is no separate “create project first” wizard. Drop process-mining-pizza.csv on Upload event log.

In 1. Data Mapping (right-hand column):

  • Case IDcase_id
  • Activityactivity
  • Timestamptimestamp (this file also has event_order; timestamp is enough and unlocks waiting time)

Click Analyze. Empty panels may say Click Analyze — the button on this panel is Analyze.

Check your result. Log overview should show 36 cases · 288 events · 9 activities · 2 variants. Each order has eight steps; 5A and 5B are two activities, so the map has nine activity nodes. Median case duration in the file is 80.5 minutes; Log overview rounds that to 81 min.

The map should fork after Payment: 5A. Order accepted by pizzeria or 5B. Pickup confirmed, then Preparation → Order handoff → Order received. START and END are synthetic.

If the map is empty or the nodes look like timestamps, Case ID / Activity mapping is swapped. Fix mapping and click Reanalyze.

Map Detail is the slider that chooses how many variants are drawn. Right-click a node or edge for Cases, Events or Transitions, and waiting time. Waiting time is the gap between timestamps — it includes kitchen work, not only idle time.

The toolbar stays Unsaved analysis until you click Save. Learn does not need you to keep the Draft. The pizza demo is read-only.

Analyze the pizza file

Sign in, start Process Mining, upload the CSV, map case_id / activity / timestamp, and click Analyze. Write down the four Log overview counts before you check the numbers in this lesson.
